Ayşegül Alkan is a corporate legal counsel specializing in commercial and corporate law, banking and finance law, mergers and acquisitions, real estate and construction law, administrative law and bankruptcy law. She is an official Mediator registered before the Ministry of Justice of Turkey.

She began her legal career working in the legal department of a multinational public accountant firm that specialized in audit and finance where she experienced in commercial and corporate law, taxation and enforcement/bankruptcy law.

She continued to work in the finance industry as assistant auditor in the audit and compliance department of MNG Investment and Securities PLC., where she specialized in Capital Markets legislation and auditing.

Following that, she joined the banking industry as Senior Lawyer in Industrial Development Bank of Turkey (TSKB), an affiliate of Türkiye İş Bankası A.Ş. As an integral part of her practice, she has been engaged in litigation and all legal procedures relating to banking law, commercial law, civil law, contract law, enforcement and bankruptcy law, employment law, financial leasing and legislation of Capital Markets Board of Turkey (SPK). She was also legal consultant of the affiliates of the Bank carrying business on real estate appraisal, securities and investment, real estate investment fields. She also provided legal consultancy to the foundations of the Bank and represented them in legal disputes.

After leaving TSKB, she continued her banking career as a legal counsel in the legal affairs department of Millennium Bank Bcp Portugal’s Istanbul subsidiary. In 2010 the Bank was acquired by Fiba Group which is one of the leading holding companies within Turkey. She has participated in the due diligence and legal procedures regarding the acquisition of the Bank before the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency. In Fibabanka, she was responsible for the consultancy services and general corporate governance work.

Following that, she continued her career in Cigna Finans Emeklilik ve Hayat A.Ş., a pension and health insurance company, which is a JV between Cigna, one of the leading health-care companies within the USA- Cigna Corporation, and Finansbank A.Ş. Within the scope of the work, she has provided counselling in relation to corporate matters. She also represented the company in litigation matters relating to insurance and commercial law.

Having left Cigna Finans A.Ş. she has been advising the corporate clients relating to commercial, corporate, administrative, enforcement and bankruptcy, taxation and real estate and construction law. She represents and consults clients in litigation matters, legal disputes and corporate governance matters.
